Dr. Ana Ananikian, Optometrist
Dr. Ananikian is originally from Mexico city and was raised in Montebello California. She attended Montebello High School and completed her undergraduate work at the Claremont Colleges with a degree in Biology. She subsequently attended the Southern California College of Optometry and obtained a Doctor of Optometry degree.
Doctor Ananikian has extensive clinical experience in the field of ocular disease. As an optometric intern she worked at the LA and West LA Veteran Hospitals specializing in the early detection and treatment of cataracts, glaucoma, and retinal disease. She has also provided care at the Watts Clinic foundation and the Blind children's Learning Center in Orange.
Soon after graduation Dr. Ananikian obtained a position as an licenced health care provider for the University of Southern California (USC) County Hospital. Dr.Ananikian still works with the department of Opthalmology at LAC-USC and co-manages the care of patients with cataracts, glaucoma, retinal disease.
Dr. Ananikian is also actively part of the co-management of LASIK patients. All of the pre-operative and post-operative care is provided conveniently at the Montebello Optometry location. Dr. Ananikian works with two top-surgeons well known for their vast experience with conventional LASIK, Wave-front technology LASIK and Intralase LASIK.
Dr. Ananikian recommends all children to be examined at: 6 months, 2 years of age and 6 years of age. Late diagnosis of certain eye conditions can have detrimental effects in the visual development of children and therefore children's learning potential.
Dr. Ananikian is fluent in English and Spanish and speaks some Armenian.
